Canada's monthly GDP growth for June 2026 faces closely matched market-implied odds, with 0.6-0.7% leading at 46% amid uncertainty between moderate expansion and softer outcomes. Recent data show a 0.2% MoM print, down from 0.3% in May, supported by gains in wholesale trade, finance, insurance, and retail that offset declines in utilities and agriculture. Goods-producing sectors expanded 0.6%, aided by elevated oil and gas prices boosting mining output, while services grew 0.2% on real estate and consumer spending resilience. Broader headwinds include trade policy uncertainty around CUSMA, higher energy costs, and a weaker Q1 start that prompted Bank of Canada and private forecasts to trim 2026 GDP projections to around 0.7-1.5%. Key near-term catalysts include final Statistics Canada revisions and Q2 aggregate releases that could clarify the path.
