Recent energy price spikes tied to Middle East tensions have driven April 2026 Eurozone HICP inflation to 3.0%, up from 2.6% in March, prompting sharp upward revisions in professional forecasts. The ECB’s May Survey of Professional Forecasters now projects 2.7% average annual inflation for the full year, a 0.9 percentage point increase from prior expectations, reflecting persistent cost pressures in energy and goods. This data flow has concentrated trader consensus on the 3.1%+ outcome at 62.2% implied probability, while narrower bands around 2.5–3.0% capture residual uncertainty around the duration of the shock. Core measures excluding energy remain near 2.2%, and the ECB’s June policy meeting plus May final inflation release represent the next near-term catalysts likely to influence further repricing.
