This market will resolve according to the median home value for all property types in Chicago on May 31, 2026. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. The resolution source will be official data from the Parcl Labs Sales Price Index for Chicago, IL (Parcl_ID: 2899845). The settlement price will be calculated by multiplying the published price index value (price per square foot) by 1500 square feet, which is the median home size in Chicago. Parcl is set to publish this data on May 31, 2026. If no data for May 31 is released by June 10, 2026, 11:59PM ET, this market will resolve according to the most recently published data. (see: https://app.parcllabs.com/prediction-market-resolutions/38)Recent Zillow data place Chicago’s average home value at $324,183 as of late April 2026, reflecting a modest 3.1 percent year-over-year gain amid persistently tight inventory and steady buyer demand. With only two weeks until the May 31 resolution date, market-implied odds heavily favor outcomes below $344,000 because seasonal price movements and limited new listings are unlikely to produce a rapid shift in median levels. Elevated mortgage rates near 6 percent continue to constrain transaction volumes, reinforcing the gradual appreciation trajectory observed in March reports showing citywide median sale prices between $375,000 and $410,000 depending on property type. Traders appear to price in the low probability of any material deviation from the current range before month-end.
