Recent NHC outlooks highlight multiple tropical waves across the eastern and central Pacific with showers and thunderstorms in an environment supportive of gradual organization, raising the prospect of a tropical depression forming early next week before the August 14 deadline. Peak climatological activity in August, combined with above-normal seasonal forecasts from NOAA and CSU for the basins and the recent passage of Hurricane Genevieve, underpin the 91.5% market-implied probability for formation. Model consensus and historical analogs indicate typical steering patterns and sea-surface temperatures favor development within the short window. However, unexpected increases in wind shear or drier mid-level air could suppress organization and push any genesis beyond the cutoff, introducing realistic uncertainty despite the strong consensus.
