Lula's commanding position in Amazonas for the October 4, 2026 first round stems from his established regional strength in Brazil's North among lower-income and traditional Workers' Party voters, reinforced by national polling showing him at 39-41% versus Flavio Bolsonaro at 30-36%. The incumbent's recent campaign launch and ongoing government initiatives on social programs have sustained this edge ahead of official campaigning, which began August 15. Fragmented opposition support across right-leaning candidates like Ronaldo Caiado, Romeu Zema, and others limits any single challenger's ability to close the gap in the state, where historical patterns favor Lula over the Liberal Party contender despite national tightening in second-round scenarios. Trader consensus reflects these structural and polling dynamics with limited late shifts expected before the vote.
