Recent polling in São Paulo, Brazil’s largest electoral base, shows Flavio Bolsonaro maintaining a consistent lead in first-round vote intentions for the October 4 presidential contest, with support in the mid-to-high 30s percent range against lower figures for Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and single-digit results for remaining contenders. This positioning stems from sustained conservative voter consolidation in the state, limited fragmentation among right-leaning options, and Lula’s comparatively weaker standing there. The market’s heavy weighting toward Bolsonaro for first place aligns with these state-level trends ahead of the vote. A late surge by another candidate or sharp shifts in undecided voters could narrow the gap, though current data indicate such movement would require substantial change in the final weeks.
