Yu Shu-chen holds the strongest trader consensus in the Hualien County Magistrate race as the Kuomintang’s official nominee, selected in March 2026 following an internal party poll that prioritized her two decades of township-level experience and community ties. The nomination consolidated KMT support in a county where the party has maintained a longstanding advantage, with the outgoing magistrate term-limited and unable to seek re-election. Lower-priced contenders such as independent Wei Chia-hsien and council speaker Chang Chun reflect limited organizational backing and weaker positioning after the party unified behind its chosen candidate. Minor figures including Lo Pei-chin and Yeh Yao-hui register minimal implied probabilities consistent with their unsuccessful bids for the KMT nod and absence of broader momentum. No major developments in the preceding 30 days have altered the market’s assessment of these relative standings ahead of the November 28, 2026 vote.
