Recent National Weather Service guidance and ensemble forecasts indicate a minimum temperature for Chicago on September 16 near 66–68 °F, with the tightest clustering around 66–67 °F. Persistent cloud cover and showers expected overnight limit radiational cooling, while light northeast winds promote modest advection of cooler air from Lake Michigan. Model spread centers on the precise timing and coverage of precipitation, which can either enhance or suppress the overnight drop by 1–3 °F. Historical September climatology shows average lows near 58 °F, yet the current pattern aligns more closely with recent above-normal readings. Updated model runs and local observations through tonight will refine the final minimum before market resolution.
