Recent parliamentary elections in Slovenia produced no outright majority, with Robert Golob’s Freedom Movement securing a narrow plurality that collapsed during coalition talks. This failure shifted the initiative to Janez Janša and his Slovenian Democratic Party, which holds the strongest negotiating position among center-right groups including New Slovenia and the Slovenian People’s Party. Traders have priced in a high likelihood of successful coalition formation under Janša, reflecting procedural advantages in the second round of government designation. Potential disruptions remain limited to breakdowns in these negotiations or unforeseen shifts among smaller parties that could force early elections or elevate alternative candidates.
