**Romania's ongoing political crisis, triggered by the May 2026 no-confidence vote that ousted the Bolojan coalition government, continues to shape probabilities in the next prime minister market.** President Nicușor Dan’s prior nominees, Eugen Tomac and Adrian Veștea, both failed to secure the required parliamentary majority (233 votes), leaving the country under caretaker administration amid a large EU budget deficit, PNRR funding deadlines at end-August, and rating agency scrutiny. Alexandru Nazare leads at 46.7% as the sitting finance minister with prior experience in the role; traders appear to price his profile as offering fiscal continuity and pro-Western stability preferred by centrist parties to avoid snap elections. Sorin Grindeanu (19.7%), PSD leader, gained party backing in late June for a potential minority government but faces lower odds due to his party’s role in the prior ouster and resistance from other pro-European groups. Lower-probability names reflect limited recent momentum in negotiations or structural barriers to their candidacy. The situation remains fluid pending further presidential consultations and any agreement on a minority cabinet.
