Brazil’s Attorney General’s Office filed a public civil action in early August 2026 seeking a court-ordered suspension of Discord, citing repeated failures to protect minors after a 13-year-old died by suicide during a livestream that allegedly encouraged self-harm. The National Data Protection Authority separately directed the platform to disable its “Go Live” feature within three business days unless it demonstrates stronger real-time safeguards against violence and suicide content. Discord has already rolled out age-assurance tools in Brazil since March to meet the Digital ECA statute, but lacks a local office and real-time content monitoring, limiting its ability to respond quickly. Court rulings on the suspension request and any compliance updates before late August remain the key near-term catalysts that could shift trader consensus on whether a full platform ban materializes.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if use of Discord is banned within Brazil through a nationwide, legally effective government or court order and such ban is publicly confirmed between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
A legally-effective nationwide court order requiring either the temporary suspension of Discord’s activities in Brazil or a prohibition on Discord operating in Brazil will qualify as a ban for the purposes of this market, regardless of whether technical implementation of the order has been completed.
An order that is stayed, suspended, or overturned before taking legal effect will not qualify. If a qualifying order takes legal effect, a subsequent stay, suspension, or reversal will not affect the market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Brazilian government, courts and Discord, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
