Recent July CPI data printed at a six-month low of 0.5% year-over-year, missing forecasts amid softer food prices, weak domestic demand, and easing transport costs after global energy pressures moderated. Traders see this as setting up a tight contest between modest rebound into the 0.7-0.8% bracket or persistence near 0.5-0.6%, driven by ongoing soft consumption, stable pork supply, and limited near-term policy stimulus signals. Core measures remain subdued while producer prices also eased, supporting the narrow spread between the two leading outcomes and leaving limited room for extremes unless August data shows sharper shifts in energy or retail activity before the September release.
