Greenland’s Inatsisartut last held elections in March 2025, installing a Democrats-led government under Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen that favors gradual independence while maintaining close ties with Denmark. As of mid-September 2026, the administration remains intact and is actively advancing a new trilateral security agreement with the United States and Denmark, scheduled for signature at the UN General Assembly, alongside expanded EU investment commitments. No parliamentary deadlock, coalition breakdown, or no-confidence motion has emerged to trigger early dissolution procedures. With the next scheduled vote not due until 2029 and the government focused on diplomatic deliverables through year-end, traders assign low probability to a snap election being called before December 31.

The calling of a snap election requires the formal dissolution of the Inatsisartut, or another formal scheduling, according to the rules of the jurisdiction, of an election for all members of the Inatsisartut prior to their scheduled election at the end of the legislative term.
An announcement of an intention to call an election, a failed vote of no confidence, or the collapse of the governing coalition will not by itself qualify toward a “Yes” resolution.
The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Greenland and the Inatsisartut; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
