**Northeast winds and extensive cloud cover are anchoring the lowest temperature outlook for Chicago on September 21 near the mid-50s to low-60s.** Official National Weather Service guidance calls for a Monday night low around 56°F under mostly cloudy skies with northeast winds of 10–15 mph, limiting radiational cooling. Multiple forecast models and local observations align on this range, consistent with the season’s climatological average low of 56.4°F. Trader emphasis on the 60–61°F bin (38% implied probability) appears driven by uncertainty in exact overnight minimums amid lingering moisture and variable wind speeds, while lower bins like 56–57°F (19.5%) reflect the official forecast consensus. Persistent cool northeast flow from recent days has suppressed daytime highs into the mid-60s, reducing the potential for warmer overnight readings. Updated model runs and evening observations will refine the exact minimum before resolution.
