Romania's political landscape remains unsettled following the May 5 no-confidence vote that removed Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and collapsed the prior centrist coalition involving PSD, PNL, USR, and UDMR. President Nicușor Dan has begun formal consultations with parliamentary parties to identify a successor capable of securing investiture, with emphasis on a stable pro-European majority amid fiscal pressures and EU funding risks. Trader consensus on a fragmented field reflects this uncertainty, positioning figures with technocratic or economic credentials such as Delia Velculescu ahead of party-affiliated options like Șerban Matei or Sorin Grindeanu. Support could consolidate behind one contender through swift parliamentary backing, presidential nomination signals, or demonstrated ability to navigate coalition talks without triggering early elections.

Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market.
If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
