Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in Slovenia on March 22, 2026. This market will resolve to the next individual who is officially elected by the National Assembly (Državni zbor) and sworn in as Prime Minister of Slovenia following the next parliamentary election. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally sworn in. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister is sworn in by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Slovenia; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The collapse of coalition negotiations by incumbent Prime Minister Robert Golob after the March 2026 parliamentary elections has positioned Janez Janša as the frontrunner to lead Slovenia’s next government. Golob’s Freedom Movement secured a narrow plurality with 29 seats but could not assemble a majority, prompting the president to defer nomination and allowing parliamentary groups to advance candidates. Janša’s Slovenian Democratic Party, holding 28 seats, has advanced procedural steps including ministry reductions and draft coalition guidelines aimed at center-right partners such as New Slovenia and the Democrats. These developments have consolidated trader expectations around Janša’s return for a fourth term. Challenges could still arise if smaller parties withhold support or if renewed negotiations revive a center-left alternative before a formal vote.
