Current forecasts from the Pakistan Meteorological Department and numerical models indicate peak temperatures in Karachi on August 18 will most likely reach 31–33°C, consistent with the market’s heaviest weighting on 32°C. This aligns with Karachi’s August climatology of mean daily maxima near 32°C, driven by high humidity from Arabian Sea moisture, frequent cloud cover, and variable monsoon influences that limit extreme heating. Recent PMD updates describe mostly hot and humid conditions with light or no rainfall expected mid-month, reducing the chance of significant cooling from showers while keeping values close to seasonal norms rather than the higher extremes seen in drier years. Traders appear to be pricing the narrow uncertainty band around normal conditions, with lower probabilities assigned to outliers above 34°C that would require unusually clear skies or suppressed moisture.
