Official ONPE results with 99.99% of first-round votes tallied as of May 14 confirm Roberto Sánchez Palomino in second place at 12.03% for Peru's April 12-13 presidential election, narrowly ahead of Rafael López Aliaga's 11.91% and advancing to the June 7 runoff against frontrunner Keiko Fujimori. His commanding trader consensus stems from a late surge driven by strong rural turnout during the protracted vote count plagued by logistical delays and manual tallies, solidifying his lead by over 21,000 votes. Fraud allegations by López Aliaga were dismissed by EU observers and JNE's 3-2 ruling on April 24 to proceed. Scenarios challenging this include reversals from the final 0.01% or pre-proclamation disputes on May 17, though deemed improbable given procedural stability.
