Recent forecasts from agencies including the UK Met Office indicate a likely high of 38°C for Madrid on September 3 under persistent high pressure, clear skies, and light southerly flow advecting warmer air masses across the Iberian plateau. Ensemble models show modest spread between 37–39°C due to subtle differences in boundary-layer mixing and nocturnal cooling rates, keeping market-implied odds tightly split between the 38°C and 39°C outcomes. Madrid’s continental climate and urban heat-island effects amplify daytime maxima during late-summer anticyclonic spells, with historical September records near 37–39°C providing context. Updated runs from global models over the next 48 hours will likely refine the exact peak ahead of resolution.
