Recent meteorological model consensus from sources including ECMWF and GFS points to a daytime high of 13–14°C in Wellington on September 10, with widespread cloud cover, periods of rain, and northwest winds gusting above 30 knots limiting solar heating. This aligns with the market’s 65% implied probability on 14°C and 26% on 13°C, reflecting trader assessment of forecast stability rather than seasonal September averages near 14–15°C. Official MetService observations at Wellington International Airport will determine resolution, with any late-model shifts in wind direction or precipitation timing the main variables that could adjust the peak by 1°C.
