Francesca Hong’s commanding position in the Dane County portion of Wisconsin’s August 11 Democratic primary for governor stems from her consistent polling lead statewide, her Madison-area legislative base, and strong progressive turnout in the county’s urban and university precincts. As a democratic socialist state representative, she has drawn national attention and energized voters with calls for expanded public services, while rivals including Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, state Senator Kelda Roys, and former administration official Joel Brennan trail in local support and fundraising momentum. Recent Marquette polls and campaign events underscore her frontrunner status heading into the vote. Late developments such as turnout surprises or consolidation behind another candidate remain the main variables that could narrow her margin in Dane County.
