Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a cooler air mass and northwest-to-northeast winds moderating temperatures in Chicago on August 27, supporting the market's emphasis on the 80-81°F bin. Official forecasts project highs near 75-78°F inland with mid-70s readings near the lake under partly cloudy skies and only slight shower chances, limiting daytime heating. This aligns with the seasonal decline in solar angle and the influence of Lake Michigan's thermal inertia. The 82-83°F outcome remains viable if cloud cover decreases or winds weaken, while lower bins reflect the risk of stronger onshore flow. Traders are weighing the latest NWS updates against historical August averages near 81°F as new model runs arrive.
