China's July consumer price index rose just 0.5% year-on-year, missing expectations and marking a six-month low amid softer food prices and subdued non-food inflation. Weak domestic demand, modest producer price gains, and base effects from prior periods continue to anchor trader views that August annual inflation will cluster near the recent print. The 0.5-0.6% band leads at 48.5% because momentum from July data and limited reflation signals outweigh forecasts for a modest rebound later in the quarter. Ranges around 0.3-0.4% and 0.7-0.8% capture uncertainty over food volatility and any stimulus effects, while tails below 0.2% or above 0.9% reflect lower-probability scenarios of sharper demand weakness or external price spikes.
