Forecast models from sources including the National Weather Service consensus and private providers like WeatherBug and WindBorne indicate a high near 98–100°F for Austin on September 2, 2026, aligning with the market’s leading 98–99°F bin at 40.5% implied probability. Late-summer southerly flow, high dew points, and limited cloud cover support daytime heating to the upper 90s, with heat indices potentially reaching 105°F despite a 20–40% chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms that may briefly interrupt insolation. This exceeds the 1991–2020 climatological average high of 94°F but falls well below the September 2 record of 106°F set in 2000. Traders appear to weigh the stable multi-model agreement and recent similar late-August/early-September patterns against residual uncertainty in storm timing or intensity that could shave a degree or two from the maximum.
