Recent National Weather Service and model guidance for Austin on September 20 projects afternoon highs near 97–100°F under persistent high pressure, southerly flow, and minimal cloud cover that favors strong daytime heating. This aligns with the city’s unseasonably warm September, already tracking toward record averages with multiple prior 100°F days. Low precipitation chances and heat indices potentially exceeding 105°F underscore the thermal setup, though slight variations in cloud timing or boundary-layer moisture could shift the peak by a degree or two. Trader consensus across the tightly bunched 96–101°F outcomes reflects these narrow forecast spreads and limited time for major model shifts before resolution.
