Recent polling averages place the CDU at 20-21% and the AfD at 17-18% ahead of the September 20 Berlin state election, reflecting the CDU's stronger position in the capital's electorate compared to the AfD's more limited support. Multiple surveys from INSA, Infratest dimap, and Forschungsgruppe Wahlen over the past two weeks show this gap holding steady amid a tight contest for first place between the CDU and The Left. The CDU-SPD governing coalition's incumbency and focus on security and infrastructure issues have sustained its edge over the AfD, which remains subject to a cross-party firewall limiting its coalition prospects. Traders appear to view these patterns as durable in the final days before voting.
