**Low influenza activity during the 2026 summer off-season continues to anchor trader sentiment around the 0.1 per 100,000 hospitalization threshold reported by CDC FluSurv-NET.** Recent surveillance through Week 33 (ending August 22) shows national positivity at just 0.8% in clinical labs, with overall acute respiratory illness very low and influenza-associated rates holding near baseline levels of 0.1–0.2 per 100,000 in late July and early August. Year-round FluSurv-NET monitoring, expanded for the 2025-26 season, captures sporadic cases amid minimal community transmission, while small absolute numbers introduce week-to-week variability from reporting lags and sampling fluctuations. Historical patterns confirm typical summer declines before fall increases, leaving the precise Week 34 outcome sensitive to any late-August uptick or data revision. Close market-implied odds across the 0.1, >0.1, and <0.1 buckets reflect this genuine uncertainty in low-volume surveillance data rather than a strong directional signal.

The resolution source for this market will be CDC FluView / FluSurv-NET (see: https://www.cdc.gov/fluview/index.html). If the FluSurv-NET hospitalization rate for the specified week is not released by 11:59 PM ET on the tenth calendar day following the date of the prior FluView weekly report release, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
CDC FluView reports the weekly FluSurv-NET hospitalization rate per 100,000 population to one decimal point (e.g., 0.1). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Note: Only the CDC FluSurv-NET weekly hospitalization rate per 100,000 population for the specified week will qualify, regardless of the cumulative influenza-associated hospitalization rate, estimates, projections, state-level reports, or other influenza surveillance metrics published by the CDC or other sources.
