Incumbent Republican Jack Bergman is seeking another term in Michigan’s 1st Congressional District, a seat rated solid or safe Republican by major forecasters such as the Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball. The district’s consistent partisan voting index favoring Republicans, combined with Bergman’s prior general-election margins above 59 percent, anchors the current trader consensus around a strong Republican outcome. With primaries scheduled for August 2026 and the general election in November, no major shifts in candidate fields or polling have emerged in recent weeks to alter that positioning. Democratic challengers remain in early primary stages, while the district’s Upper Peninsula and northern Michigan voter base continues to reflect the structural advantages that have sustained Republican control.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
