Kate Marshall advanced from the June 2026 nonpartisan primary with nearly 45% of the vote to face Kathleen Taylor, the second-place finisher at 19%, in the November 3 general election for Reno mayor. Marshall’s prior roles as Nevada lieutenant governor, state treasurer, and White House adviser have contributed to her dominant position in trader pricing, reflecting her statewide profile and early fundraising edge in an open race created by term limits on incumbent Hillary Schieve. Taylor, a sitting city council member and vice-mayor, has emphasized local regulatory experience but trails significantly in implied probability. Recent candidate forums have focused on data centers, homelessness, housing costs, and city budgets, with no major shifts reported in the past month that would alter the current consensus favoring Marshall.
