Gabriel Attal trails after officially declaring his Renaissance-backed candidacy in May 2026, with surveys showing him at lower first-round levels when both compete, though his youth and renewal messaging sustain some support. Recent mid-2026 polls, including Ipsos-BVA data, highlight Philippe's edge in reaching potential runoffs in unified scenarios while illustrating vote-splitting risks if both advance, alongside the wider contest against National Rally and left-wing contenders. Scheduled first-round voting on 18 April 2027 frames the timeline for further shifts.
