Lin Kuo-chang, the Democratic Progressive Party nominee, leads trader consensus in the November 28, 2026, Yilan County magistrate race, consistent with his edge in early 2026 polling against the opposition. The Kuomintang and Taiwan People's Party selected Wu Tsung-hsien as their joint nominee following May joint surveys that showed him outperforming Chen Wan-hui in head-to-head matchups, though both trailed Lin by narrow margins. This KMT-TPP coordination, alongside local factors such as tourism pressures, infrastructure priorities, and in-migration trends, keeps the contest competitive. Upcoming campaign registration in September and the formal period starting in November could introduce further shifts before voters decide.
