Current forecast models from sources including the National Meteorological Center of China and international ensembles point to a daily maximum near 37–38°C in Chongqing on September 8 under mostly sunny skies with light southeasterly flow and minimal early precipitation risk. Recent observations show persistent highs of 35–37°C through early September amid the lingering influence of a strong subtropical ridge, consistent with typical early-autumn climatology for the Sichuan Basin. Trader emphasis on the 38°C outcome (36.5% implied probability) reflects this narrow model consensus, while lower probabilities for 39°C or above account for possible localized urban heat-island enhancement or minor forecast shifts before official resolution by the China Meteorological Administration. Updated model runs and surface observations over the next 48 hours remain the key variables.
