This setup creates a narrow contest between 16°C and 17°C outcomes, with modest differences in wind speed and solar insolation determining whether readings briefly reach the upper threshold. Overcast conditions and a stable marine layer have kept surface temperatures from exceeding historical May maxima, while any late-day clearing could push the peak marginally higher, explaining the near-even market-implied probabilities for these two results.
