Romania's recent government collapse after a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has shifted focus to President Nicușor Dan's ongoing party consultations aimed at forming a stable parliamentary majority. Traders assign the highest probability to Delia Velculescu, reflecting her extensive IMF experience and perceived suitability for a technocratic role that could advance fiscal reforms and safeguard EU funding access amid economic pressures. Other candidates, including Șerban Matei and Sorin Grindeanu, trail as parties weigh coalition options without the previous four-party arrangement. Developments such as the president's emphasis on avoiding weak coalitions and scheduled talks with groups including the Social Democrats and Alliance for the Union of Romanians continue to shape positioning, with any resulting agreements likely to determine the next confirmed nominee.
