Slovenia's March 2026 parliamentary election produced a narrow result with Robert Golob's Freedom Movement securing 29 seats to Janez Janša's Slovenian Democratic Party's 28, leaving no party with a majority in the 90-seat National Assembly. Failed coalition talks prompted President Nataša Pirc Musar to defer nomination authority to lawmakers, creating a deadlock that has elevated Janša as the leading candidate to form government through right-leaning alliances. Traders assign this outcome a commanding implied probability because Janša's party holds the strongest negotiating position amid fragmented smaller parties. Alternative scenarios that could shift probabilities include a last-minute centre-left or cross-bloc agreement or a successful challenge from within the SDS.
