Recent preliminary Statistics Canada data showed Canadian monthly GDP expanding 0.2% MoM in June 2026, following a 0.3% May gain, with strength in wholesale, finance, insurance, and retail trade offset by softness in utilities and agriculture. This aligns with broader resilience in household spending and energy-related sectors amid U.S. tariff adjustments and higher oil prices, though net exports and business investment remain constrained. With final June figures scheduled for August 28 and probabilities clustered tightly between 0.0-0.3% ranges, trader sentiment reflects expectations of subdued growth near consensus forecasts, tempered by potential revisions and sensitivity to labor market or inflation releases that could influence Bank of Canada policy expectations.
