Florida's 2026 attorney general contest remains closely balanced between incumbent Republican James Uthmeier and Democratic challenger José Javier Rodriguez, with traders pricing both near even odds ahead of the November 3 general election. Uthmeier, appointed in 2025 after Ashley Moody's Senate move, benefits from an uncontested Republican primary, substantial fundraising lead exceeding $10 million, and emphasis on enforcement priorities including immigration and corporate accountability. Rodriguez, a former state senator and U.S. Labor Department official, secured labor union endorsements and highlights consumer protection, costs, and Tallahassee ethics issues while demanding preservation of Hope Florida documents in a recent letter. Older polls showed narrow margins either way, and Florida's partisan baseline plus the two-month timeline keep separation limited absent major late developments such as additional endorsements or spending shifts.
