Persistent northeasterly flow and widespread cloud cover with showers from a slow-moving system are holding Chicago overnight lows in the upper 50s to mid-60s for September 20. Cool air advection combined with high humidity and moderate winds limits radiational cooling, while the lack of clear skies prevents sharper drops. Recent model runs show tight agreement on minimum temperatures near 59–64 °F at official stations, aligning with the market’s leading 62–65 °F bins at 60 % combined implied probability. Historical September averages near 57 °F provide context, but current steering patterns favor a milder outcome unless stronger cold-air intrusion develops. Updated NWS guidance and late-day observations will refine resolution criteria before the calendar day ends.
