Forecast models from MetService and international sources converge on a 14–15°C high for Wellington on September 21 under strengthening northwesterly winds ahead of a southerly change. This places the outcome near the upper end of September climatology, where mean daily maxima average 12.5–14°C. Northerly flow from the Tasman Sea favors modest warming and clear conditions, while the approaching front limits further gains. Market-implied odds heavily favor 15°C, reflecting this consensus while assigning secondary weight to 16°C if winds peak earlier. Official temperature readings from Wellington’s primary stations will determine resolution, with the next model updates and real-time observations the key near-term drivers.
