As a fifth-generation West Texan with prior congressional staff experience and a background in agricultural policy, Sell has secured substantial fundraising advantages, endorsements from former primary rivals, and backing from local business and farming groups focused on regional priorities such as energy, agriculture, and rural infrastructure. His opponent, Abraham Enriquez, trails notably after emphasizing national conservative themes. While Sell’s position appears secure ahead of early voting beginning May 18, a sharp surge in turnout among Enriquez’s grassroots base or an unforeseen late development could still narrow the margin in the final days.
