The June 7 runoff between Keiko Fujimori of Popular Force and Roberto Sánchez of Together for Peru produced a technical tie, with preliminary tallies showing a margin of roughly 36,000 votes amid ongoing processing of rural ballots and approximately 500,000 contested votes by the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE). The National Jury of Elections (JNE) oversees final certification after the Jurados Electorales Especiales rejected all 13 nullity requests filed by both campaigns in mid-June, removing immediate legal obstacles. Election authorities have stated that full review of challenged ballots and any remaining recounts will extend into July, consistent with patterns from prior Peruvian contests where official proclamation followed weeks of verification. The JNE has emphasized transparency and rejected fraud narratives, while international observers noted a competitive but orderly vote. Certification timing hinges on the pace of ONPE tabulation and whether further appeals arise before the scheduled July 28 inauguration.
