Yemen's Houthis escalated tensions by launching multiple ballistic missile and drone attacks on Israel starting March 28, 2026—their first direct strikes since the prior Gaza ceasefire—coordinating with Iran and Hezbollah to target sites like Ben Gurion Airport and southern military areas, though most were intercepted by Israeli air defenses. The Israel Defense Forces recently downed a Houthi drone near Eilat, marking the first such incident since Iran-related ceasefires, amid warnings from Sanaa of broader Red Sea disruptions if U.S.-Israeli actions against Iran resume. Traders weigh Israel's restraint on Yemen strikes to avoid a new front, against historical patterns of retaliation following Houthi barrages, with no confirmed Israeli airstrikes on Yemeni soil in the past month despite over a dozen interceptions. Ongoing diplomatic signals and U.S. strikes on Houthi targets could influence escalation before any resolution deadline.

For the purposes of this market, a qualifying "strike" is defined as the use of aerial bombs, drones or missiles (including cruise or ballistic missiles) launched by Israeli military forces that impact Yemen ground territory or any official Yemen embassy or consulate (e.g., if a weapons depot on Yemen soil is hit by an Israeli missile, this market will resolve to "Yes").
Missiles or drones that are intercepted and surface-to-air missile strikes will not be sufficient for a "Yes" resolution, regardless of whether they land on Yemen territory or cause damage.
Actions such as artillery fire, small arms fire, FPV or ATGM strikes directly, ground incursions, naval shelling, cyberattacks, or other operations conducted by Israeli ground operatives will not qualify.
The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.
