The August 18 primary produced a runoff between Jeremy Matlow and Loranne Ausley after neither secured a majority, with Matlow at 36% and Ausley at 34% while Daryl Parks and Michael Foust were eliminated. Parks’s subsequent endorsement of Ausley has consolidated support among some voters ahead of the November 3 runoff. The tight trader consensus reflects both candidates’ strong name recognition, comparable fundraising, and shared Democratic base in a nonpartisan contest, alongside Matlow’s resilience against heavy negative advertising and Ausley’s legislative experience. Low primary turnout and undecided voters from earlier polling leave room for late shifts driven by turnout efforts, debate performances, or additional endorsements before ballots are cast.
