Recent National Weather Service guidance and short-range models highlight a heat dome advecting warm, humid air northward from the Southeast, sustaining southwest flow and mostly sunny skies that favor strong daytime heating over Chicago on September 2. This setup supports forecast highs of 92–95°F with heat indices near 100°F, aligning with the market’s heaviest weighting on those bins. Normal early-September maxima near 80°F underscore the anomalous warmth, while modest model spread and limited cloud cover or precipitation chances through midday limit upside beyond 96°F. Updated model runs ahead of the event will determine whether the leading 92–93°F outcome holds.
