Recent National Weather Service and private forecasts indicate a cooling trend for Los Angeles as the late-August heat dome retreats, with onshore flow and a strengthening marine layer expected to moderate daytime highs on August 31. Official guidance projects morning low clouds and fog clearing to sunny conditions, yielding daily maxima in the upper 70s to mid-80s°F depending on exact location and station, consistent with late-summer climatology after several days above 90°F. This pattern shift from persistent high pressure and offshore flow explains the market concentration around 78–81°F buckets, as traders weigh ensemble model consensus and historical analogs for coastal Southern California under similar synoptic setups. Minor uncertainty remains from potential model adjustments to boundary-layer moisture or wind timing ahead of resolution.
