This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the LaGuardia Airport Station in degrees Fahrenheit on 27 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=klga This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button. If NOAA data is unavailable or missing for the observation period, Weather Underground will be used as the secondary resolution source. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Official forecasts from the National Weather Service and major models indicate a high temperature in the lower 80s for New York City on August 27, 2026, aligning closely with the market's leading outcomes.** A frontal system and associated moisture will bring partly sunny skies turning to showers and thunderstorms by afternoon, with a 60-70% chance of precipitation. This cloud cover and evaporative cooling from rain will suppress peak heating compared to clearer conditions. Southerly winds of 10-15 mph will advect humid air (dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s), supporting muggy conditions but limiting extreme warmth. The climatological average high for the date is near 82°F, and current guidance clusters tightly around 80-83°F across ensemble runs, with limited spread suggesting modest uncertainty. Trader-implied probabilities reflect this consensus: the 80-81°F bin leads at 44% due to the most probable balance of partial clearing and storm timing, while adjacent 78-79°F and 82-83°F bins capture the tails of model variability. Higher thresholds (84°F+) carry low odds because widespread cloudiness and rainfall reduce the likelihood of strong insolation, consistent with NWS zone forecasts emphasizing lower-80s maxima. Updated model runs overnight or early Thursday could shift the distribution if storm timing or coverage changes.
