President Nicușor Dan is set to nominate Romania's next prime minister soon after Ilie Bolojan's ouster in a May 5 no-confidence vote, triggered by the Social Democrats' (PSD) coalition withdrawal over austerity disputes. Trader consensus ties presidential economic adviser Radu Burnete and National Bank international relations director Șerban Matei at 19.5% each, reflecting buzz around technocrat options amid fractured parliamentary support and parties' rejection of minority governments. PSD's Sorin Grindeanu trails at 12.5% despite prior leadership, as he declines a minority role. The deadlock persists without a clear majority coalition, keeping the field competitive; Dan's consultations and the impending parliamentary confidence vote will likely determine separation among contenders.
