Recent earnings reports and infrastructure expansions have strengthened trader consensus around Alibaba as the leading Chinese AI company through May, with its cloud segment showing robust AI-driven revenue growth and commitments to exceed prior investment targets in data centers powered by proprietary Zhenwu chips. Baidu trails as a close second, supported by ongoing integration of its ERNIE models into search and enterprise tools amid steady ecosystem adoption. New model releases like Alibaba’s Happy Horse video generator and strategic funding in video AI startups have further reinforced its edge in multimodal capabilities over the past week. Smaller players such as Z.ai and ByteDance maintain modest probabilities due to competitive but narrower advancements in open-source and application-specific tools, while broader U.S. chip restrictions continue to shape domestic scaling strategies across the sector.
