This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the lowest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Cape Town International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 2 Sep '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the lowest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=fact If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source. In the event which there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Trader sentiment for Cape Town's September 2 minimum temperature reflects balanced uncertainty, with market-implied odds clustered near 50% across thresholds from 6°C or below through 15°C (and 16°C+ near 49%).** This stems from short-range forecast variability in a transitional early-spring setting for the Southern Hemisphere, where official model guidance and historical analogs place the overnight low most likely near 11–12°C under typical conditions. Cape Town's Mediterranean climate features strong maritime moderation from the cold Benguela Current and prevailing southerly winds, which limit radiative cooling and keep minima from dropping sharply even on clearer nights. Key differentiating factors include overnight cloud cover (which traps longwave radiation and raises minima), wind speed and direction (light southerlies enhance mixing and cooling, while calmer or northerly flow allows slightly higher readings), and any subtle frontal influences or pressure gradients that could shift the marine layer. Current model consensus points to mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with southerly breezes and dew points near 10–11°C, supporting the central range around 11–12°C while leaving room for small deviations based on exact timing of any increased cloudiness or wind shifts. With resolution hinging on the official minimum recorded on September 2 and forecasts still subject to updates from agencies like the South African Weather Service, the tight probability distribution captures genuine scientific uncertainty in the final 24–48 hours rather than any major recent shift in conditions. Traders are effectively pricing the narrow spread typical of this stable regime versus the low but non-zero chance of outliers from localized variations in boundary-layer processes.
