Recent National Weather Service and private model consensus points to overnight lows in the mid-to-upper 70s for Houston on September 5, with ranges of 75–80°F dominating forecasts amid typical early-September humidity and scattered thunderstorm activity. Afternoon convection and associated cloud cover can suppress daytime heating and limit radiational cooling overnight, while light southerly winds and dew points near 75°F keep minimum temperatures elevated above the 1991–2020 climatological average of roughly 75°F. Model spreads arise mainly from differences in storm timing and coverage, which traders weigh against historical variability where lows have ranged from the mid-60s to low-80s in similar setups. Updated model runs and National Weather Service briefings over the next 48 hours will likely refine these probabilities as resolution approaches.
